About Heidi Glatfelter Schlag

History. Preservation and creative reuse of historic structures. Vibrant small towns populated by local merchants. Farms growing their own crops and producing their own products. Authentic experiences. Heritage tourism and agritourism. These are a few of my passions.
It took me about 10 years after I graduated from college (with a B.A. in Communications Studies and a M.S. in Communications Management) to decide to combine my passions with my educational background. When I did, I found my calling.
I founded Market Early America Consulting as a launch pad into this new world and found success with a variety of clients. After five years working on a freelance basis, I was hired as the Director of Marketing and Communications for the C&O Canal Trust, a job which combined many of my passions, and added a few more: parks, green spaces, conservation, recreational tourism, and economic development for trail towns.
I have been fortunate to work for a variety of top-notch organizations over the years, which have all honed my marketing, communications, and project management skills. Some highlights of my career are below and in my portfolio. If you would like to receive a copy of my full resume or to hire me as a freelancer/consultant through Market Early America, please email me at heidigschlag (at) gmail.com.
